News THANK YOU

Dear All

This is to say a huge Thank You for literally saving our bacon. We emailed in July with the news that Bristol City Council proposed cutting out funding from 30 September. Over 300 people wrote to council leader Helen Holland in protest, and when the recommendations went to the Cabinet on 31 July we were
awarded a further 6 months funding to 31 March 2009. This is great and gives us more time to sort things out, although we still don’t have the 3 year funding agreement we need. August was holiday after working round the clock for months on TRADE IT?

Meanwhile the important thing is theatre, and we’ve got a couple of new projects coming up. First is a partnership with the Southville Centre, to put theatre in local shops. We’ll develop this over the next few months, and on Saturday 21 February there will be actors in shops on Bedminster’s North, West and East Streets.

We’re also collaborating with Travelling Light Theatre Company on a project to work with a mixture of young and professional writers. We’ll create a number of short pieces of new work, to be performed in some unusual spaces.
And there’ll be a fundraising event later this year that we’re planning now, with details to follow.

So thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping us in business. And watch this space.

Very best wishes

Sheila Hannon ad Gill Loats, Producers
