Bedminster’s older than Bristol, and our 5★ walking tour takes you to extraordinary, forgotten places where amazing things happened.
Grave robbers and body snatchers, concrete coffins and hanging judges – and the missing millions from Britain’s biggest robbery, laundered in Bedminster.
You’ll see places and people you didn’t know existed, and by the end of the evening Bedminster will never seem the same again.
- Meet/start: outside The Ropewalk, Nelson Parade (BS3 4JA)
- Tour takes place outdoor. Ends North Street near Hen & Chicken (food served until 9.30pm)
- Adults only. Maximum group size 20.

From Bristol to Botany Bay
In 1817 a female convict ship, ‘The Friendship’, sailed from England to Australia with 101 women, ten of them from Bristol Newgate prison – now the site of The Galleries Shopping Centre in Bristol.
In late 2023, with funding from Historic England and the University of the West of England, we explored the forgotten lives of these women.
