Recent Productions NEW SHOWS 5 months of free theatre in Bedminster Shops

SHOW OF STRENGTH is gearing up for 5 months of free theatre in Bedminster. TRADING LOCAL was a huge success when SOS launched it in North Street shops nearly four years ago. Since then it’s played high streets in Exeter, Westbury-on-Trym, Brislington, Staple Hill and Knowle. On Saturday 24 November it’s back home for 5 months, thanks to funding from the Mary Portas ‘Town Team’ initiative. The action’s on East Street in the morning, and in the afternoon it moves to North Street. Shop, take in a show, have a coffee, see another show, do some more shopping, have some lunch, discover another high street -it’s a great way to spend a Saturday.

In December there’ll be two Christmas Specials, with brand new seasonal pieces as part of North Street’s Christmas Fayre on Saturday 8 December and East Street’s on Saturday 15 (mornings only, 10am-1pm). The pieces are tasters for RECYCLED STOCKINGS, SOS’s brand new Christmas show for families at The Southville Centre from 15 December. With tickets for children just £5 it’s the most affordable Christmas treat in town: on sale now at The Southville Centre – last year sold out so make sure you book in time.

From January to March there’ll be shows on the last Saturday of each month in North Street and East Street. See full list of dates below. www.bedminstertownteam.org

Sheila Hannon, SOS’s Producer, said: ‘*TRADING LOCAL* at the Broadwalk Shopping Centre sent the footfall counter off the scale, with nearly 1,000 more people than usual. Guaranteed increased footfall without costing shops a penny -what kind of advertising matches that? Creative, social, entertaining & hugely engaging, TRADING LOCAL refreshes the parts of town centres other cultural activities fail to go anywhere near, supporting local high streets and independent traders at a really tough time.”

Recent Productions Frankenstein in Bath

Celebrate the 200th anniversary of FRANKENSTEIN’s birth with an atmospheric, theatrical walking tour of Bath. Show Of Strength Theatre Company reveal the city’s forgotten role in shaping Mary Shelley’s gothic masterpiece.

The summer of 1816 was extraordinary for many reasons, not least the sequence of events that unfolded while Mary Shelley completed her first draft of FRANKENSTEIN – in Bath. Revealing the dramas and scandals underlying the creation of the novel, the tour takes visitors on an adventure, retracing Mary Shelley’s footsteps and exploring the extraordinary and unmarked locations where she lived – and wrote her story.

Running nightly from the 16th June to the 30th September 2016, brave explorers will delve into a series of real life disasters that unfolded during Mary’s time in the city. Discover the real reason Mary Shelley came to Bath, and the secrets she and her infamous companions were desperate to hide.

  • Tours nightly: 16th June – 30th September 2016 7.30 pm
